“Seek validation from your consumer and you’ll automatically build brand authority.” ~Raj Girn, Founder, The Open Chest® Confidence Academy
Hi Friend,
I want to share something this week that I feel we need to be more honest about when it comes to our personal relationship with it, and that is this whole idea around “validation.”
Social media is rampant with the notion that if you don’t conform to “the unconformity trend” (standing for something that goes against conventional wisdom), then you don’t have a relevant (validated) brand.
The implication of having an irrelevant brand is this fallacy that there isn’t a consumer/client for your value proposition if it conforms to conventional rather than radical ideas. This whole idea that what you have to offer needs to be radical to be viable is ridiculous! I say this because . . .
‘Relevancy’ is subjective.
Don’t get caught up in the “smoke and mirrors” of it all, because even radical brands become conventional (normalized) once they have been around long enough.
I’m sharing this because so many of my clients go down the rabbit hole of trying to build innovation, when what they have to offer doesn’t require it. Some things people just need, like financial literacy in order to build wealth, or nutritional knowledge in order to build health. In cases like these, there’s no need to validate the offer, just the process.
Let me state this again. In cases where people already need what you have to offer, don’t waste your time convincing them of what they already know. Use your time instead to illustrate how YOU will get them there.
Moral of this missive is . . .
If you focus on those who need you instead of focusing on what you need, you will validate your brand authority. This is the one thing you need to do that can change the way people see your worth – by you seeing theirs.
Something to sit with!
In other news, in this week’s The Transform Your Confidence Show, the theme is ‘Branding & Marketing’ where I had the distinct pleasure of chatting with multi-award winning former CTV media personality & virtual events specialist, Naomi Parness, in an episode entitled: “How To Use Virtual Events To Market Your Business!” Scroll down to access this, because she shares how to morph the live events model to online and how online events can massively impact your brand authority building. If you haven’t hosted or participated in an event before, then this episode is for you, to learn how and why!
